Carbon dioxide capture unit to move from Edmonton to Calgary on Tuesday

A massive carbon capture unit built in Edmonton by ALCO is transported to Calgary’s Shepard Energy Centre for the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE competition.

May 18, 2020, A 190,000-pound carbon capture unit, designed in Switzerland and built by ALCO in Edmonton, is being delivered to Calgary’s Shepard Energy Centre. The unit will supply concentrated CO₂ to Carbon XPRIZE teams competing to convert emissions into valuable products, enhancing Alberta’s carbon innovation efforts and the province’s ACCTC facility.
